    Tongue as an orofacial structure in the oral cavity plays a very important role in eliciting a variety of functions which includes clarity of speech, nursing, maintenance of oral hygiene and swallowing. Ankyloglossia is a congenital deformity which is characterized by the presence open abnormally short and thick lingual frenum which untowardly affects the movement of the tongue.
