Author(s): Bindthiya RC Babu AR Subasree and Ramalakshmi V*

To determine the overexpression of P53 protein in histological sections of oral cavity lesions. To compare the degree of P53 overexpression in premalignant and malignant lesions of the oral cavity with that of the normal oral mucous membrane. The study group was further divided into 2 equal groups; Group I had 35 histopathologically diagnosed, formalin fixed, paraffin embedded samples of oral leukoplakia. Group II had 35 histopathologically diagnosed, formalin fixed, paraffin embedded samples of oral squamous cell carcinoma. The samples were then subjected to immunohistochemistry by indirect 1mmunoenzyme LSAB method for detection of P53 protein. P53 immunohistochemical analysis 1s strongly recommended in conjunction with histological parameters, to increase the sensitivity of detection of cases that will progress to carcinoma... Read More»
