Pre-Diabetes among HIV-Infected Individuals Receiving HAART: Prevalence, Diagnostic Tests, and Associated Factors, a Cross-Sectional Study

Background: In our common practice we use highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) which has resulted in a dramatic decrease in mortality and morbidity in HIV-infected patients. Components of HAART, as well as HIV infection itself, can have significant effects on developing new-onset diabetes and this risk will increase if the patient has a positive family history of diabetics. Objective: To determine the frequency of prediabetes among HIV-infected individuals. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted through a Non-probability consecutive sampling technique.
