Relationship of DMFT and Glomerular Filtration Rate in Adults Residing in Shahedieh city, Yazd Province

Background and Objectives: Oral health is a strong predictor of general health and the quality of life. Of all systemic diseases, renal disease is the most important cause of morbidity and mortality. Kidneys are among the critical organs for general health. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) occurs following progressive and irreversible destruction of nephrons, which is associated with decreased glomerular filtration rate (GFR), and increased serum Creatinine and blood urea nitrogen (BUN). Studies regarding the oral health status and prevalence of caries in patients with CKD are limited and controversial.
