Investigation of TNF-?, LT-? and TNFR-2 gene Polymorphisms in Patients with Periodontitis in Turkey

Introduction: One of the cytokines involved in periodontal breakdown in periodontitis is; Tumor necrosis factor (TNF), with two types; tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and lymphotoxin-α (LT-α). Aim: In the present study, the individual frequency of TNF-α -308 promoter, LT-α +252 intron, and TNF receptor-2 (TNFR-2) +587 exon polymorphisms associated with chronic (CP) and generalized aggressive periodontitis (GAP) were evaluated in Turkish population. Materials and Methods: This research was conducted on 224 periodontitis patients (P) (119 CP, 105 GAP patients) and 85 healthy controls (C).
